Alogia ("poverty of thought") is one of the five symptom complexes of Andreasen's Scale for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms (SANS). It captures the impoverishment of thinking that shows up as a reduction in the amount or informativeness of speech, together with disruptions in its flow.

This subscale is a natural instance-mode span-annotation target: each item corresponds to an identifiable feature of the subject's speech that an annotator (or an agent) can highlight and label — restricted quantity of speech (Poverty of Speech), vague and empty speech that conveys little (Poverty of Content), interruptions of the flow of speech (Blocking), and slow responses (Increased Latency of Response). Rate over the interview sample, scaling proportionally for shorter samples.
